Jeter has done it before. I was at a game back in 97 or 98 and he hit a shot to the upper deck in right. I think he has more power than people realize. Tim Raines used to say that if Jeter ever became a patient hitter, he would hit 50 home runs.

Well, he did walk 91 times one year and hit 24 home runs. And he was swinging the bat well, hitting .349.

30 maybe. Of the Yankees who hit 40, only Dimaggio was a right-handed hitter (and Mantle was a switch-hitter who hit most of his home runs left-handed).

No, not at all. He said the problem with Jeter was that as good as a hitter he is, he should be better. He said Jeter is too agressive for his own good and doesn't know how to work the count to his favor. He said if Jeter would learn to be patient, he would hit for more power but his BA would suffer. But he said that because Jeter loves to attack the ball and hit to right, he doesn't wait for hitters counts and get fastballs to pull. The reason I remember this interview by Raines is because it was on ESPN the day I won $500 in a scratch off ticket lottery.
