I'm not sure how the blinds are $1-$2 at the $4-$8 game... can somebody explain?

[/ QUOTE ]

It's weird structure that I've never seen anywhere else. The blinds are $1-$2, and it costs to $2 to call PF if nobody raises. Raises are still $4, though, so the first raise makes it $6 to go. A cap pre-flop (bet and 4 raises, 'cause its vegas) means it'll cost you $18 to see the flop.

From the flop on its a normal $4-$8 game.

Odd. That's like a 1-4-8-8 preflop with a 4-8 postflop.

Alright this sounds really weird. It looks much easier to protect your hand preflop. How do you adjust?

How does more people seeing the flop for half price benefit the better players?

[/ QUOTE ]

The benefit comes when you catch a bunch of early position limpers with their shorts down because you're not afraid to raise AK "because it's a drawing hand". Add the cheap flops you get to see and then dominate with your superior post-flop skills.

implied odds are 2x better if you manage to limp in for $2, so if people aren't raising you can play more speculative hands. through in one-gap connectors, etc.

with premium hands and offsuit big cards it is very important that you raise to wreck implied odds.

UB has mini blind games.

It also looks like you are better able to protect your hand on the flop in unraised pots.

the room has ridiculous rules.. the dealers are nice and friendly.. but it's too stuffy.. it's just like BLAH... the games are fair, sometimes outstanding.. but beware

I always thought it would be hysterical if one of the waitresses had a hairy diaper all hanging out from the sides...
