Re: Dropping AKos preflop

Cap to drive out small pocket pairs of MP1 and MP2.

Re: Dropping AKos preflop

I really don't think this logic makes much sense at all. Any pocket pair sufficiently good to raise or cold call two first time around is calling two again (in fact, more correctly this time).

I think on thing that is clear is that capping pre-flop is not often going to significantly limit the field on that street.

I think this can be simplified a bit. To a pretty good approximation your equity is about the same as hitting the flop. It's of course not that simple, but this can't be too far off. In that case, your equity is roughly 1/3, so the value arguments are a wash.

This leaves the "take control" argument in favor or capping, versus the "deception" argument for calling. I don't consider myself qualified to choose between those two, but that choice, whatever it is, seems to be the crux of the matter.

Given your reads and the odds the pot is laying, this is a very weak fold. I dont cap from this position, however.

Well by capping we can fold out other Ak's postflop,

No chance of this unless you are considering spewing OOP until the river.

I would keep betting all boards unless raised. I guess that's spewing..

One of my primary reasons for not capping pre-flop is I don't want to feel obligated to do this.

Yeah, I didn't full think about the pot odds layed on me til today. Obviously, putting $5 in a $13 pot is a fine play for AK. I just hated being on the SB for it. For what it's worth, that's only the second time I've ever folded AK out of ~ 300 instances. (The other time I hit the wrong button.) Thanks for the replies everyone, I shall continue my quest to avoid being a mouse.

I think that's fine to do, since after capping the pot would be pretty big.
