This is a common occurance. Some palces try to do this in place of having a floor staff pay attention to what is going on in the room. Poker rooms don't need new rule; they need a floor staff that can understand the game.

It is not a matter of "short handed"... Not to mention most people dont consider 7 or 8 handed "short".

It is a table stakes game and when you have someone who is speanding more time away from the table than at the table, they are removing that money from the table and worse yet, not allowing new money to be bought into to play in its place.

My attitude is if you came to play poker, play poker. If you came to BS with the guys, watch other people play poker, play slots, BJ, keno or whatever it is that people do while they are gone from their table 90% of the time, pick up your chips and let someone that wants to play poker sit down and play.

I don't think they should clock you out on timed games. If you are still paying time like the rest of the players you should get credit for it.

It has nothing to do with playing short handed. It is incredibly rude for the player to do that when there are people on the waiting list for 2 hours. And MicroBob, sorry for the confusion, but you do get to play. You just keep the button until the next dealer.

And to Capone, I did tell the floorman, he was a new floorman to the Bellagio and clearly didn't understand logic. He told me there was nothing he could do.

At the Bellagio, I was playing in a game where one player used his max time and came back one minute before he is supposed to get picked up. He played a couple of hands and left for another hour and fifteen minutes. I felt this was rediculous as he just wanted to keep his stack in a max buyin game.

I like this rule.

In the absence of this rule, one way to deal with a situation like the one you described at the Bellagio is to force the floor to close the table and pick up the absent players. Basically what you have to do is tell the floor that all players have agreed to break the table. You then step back 10 feet or so from the table, wait for the floor to bag all absent players, and then sit back down.
