My only complaint - -and I know for a fact I'm not alone on this - is the smoking on the rail. It just totally screws up the concept of a smoke-free room if there are going to be people standing on the rail billowing clouds of smoke into the room.

We've been talking about this since the room opened. We try to do our best to have people smoking step back and ashtrays are removed from the rail when they're spotted. It gets so busy it's hard to notice at times. A large free standing ashtray was set ouside the room for a couple days but the casino manager didn't like it and had it removed. Enclosing the room in glass isn't going to happen. We talked about it at one point before construction started but the powers to be thought it would do more to isolate the room and make it feel less open and inviting to new players. A completely smoke free environment is near unattainable but we're trying to do what we can to cut it to a bare minimum without cutting the room off from the outside world.

I'm not sure where I've seen it but I'm pretty sure that I've read this too.
Probably not on the horseshoe site....possibly in the mid-south gambling magazine ad or something like that where all the different Mississippi rooms (and the games they spread) are listed.

Anyway, I definitely remember seeing this SOMEWHERE (more than once) because I specifically thought 'this must be some pretty old info because I've never seen a 3/6 game at the shoe'.
It's out there somewhere (just like the x-files).

I think I have seen this. Once when I was in Vegas I ran into a small publication that nobody in our room had heard of that had a lot of info about our room and all of it was obsolete (over 2 years old).

Thank you, sirs. I've got a line on a ceramic brown trout card protector, so speak up when you see me.

Oh, wait, I doubt thats unique, lol.

It all depends on what you like to play. I, for one, only play NL, and the Gold Strike has by far the best NL game in Tunica. Just be careful when you play in it, because there are SEVERAL damn good players that play in it on a regular basis. The min buy-in is $100, which isnt that bad. If you are going to be in the main game, I would not recommend buying in for less than $400-$500 because you wont be able to protect your hand.

The Gold Strike 1-2 NL is hands down the best 1-2 game in the country. At any given time the game could easily have over 10k on the game. I saw a guy a few months back win over 12k in 4 hours in that game with a $300 buy-in. It's quite a game for sure.

I think its amazing that even has to be addressed. If a poker room is advertised as non-smoking then by definition that means that you can't smoke while you play. I don't understand why people don't get that. If you are a smoker and want a cigarette then you take a 5 minute break and go somewhere where smoking is allowed (bar, outside, wife's blackjack table, etc). No different than anywhere else that is non-smoking. If your work is non-smoking then you take a break go outside to smoking area and come back when you're finished.

Of course I'm a non-smoker. I guess if I was a smoker I might have a somewhat altered opinion, but regardless even if I did smoke I would still understand that while I'm playing poker at Horseshoe I can't smoke.

The issue is not smoking at the table, but on the rail - which is like 3 feet from the tables on the outside of the room.
