If you win the main event, you SHOULD be giving one hell of a tip!

$225,000?

No effing way would I tip that. I don't care how much I won. They are running 200 tables, so say 300 dealers... and much less after the first 3 days. I'm not tipping $750 per dealer just from me.

My fiscally conservative ass might tip $10k. They are already raking the prize pool to "tip" the dealers as far as I'm understanding it anyways, so I'd be much more likely to tip less.

As for the guy tipping $1 per 3 hands... that's kind of cheap, but if I really was a B&M pro, I'd definitely consider tipping much less then I do currently.

Of course, I tipped $100 at least the night of the donkfest at MGM, so give me a few drinks and who really knows.

but dealers? gimme a break, i don't decide how the system works - how their wages are fueled by patrons of the casinos.. why should I pay? )

[/ QUOTE ]

I hope you realize that by going to a casino you are inherently agreeing with how their pay system works. I don't think you can be selective in how you tip. If you're going to tip a waiter/waitress/bartender for their service you should be doing the same for a dealer. Don't you think that the dealer is providing you with a service and should be getting paid for it?

Also, if you don't suck at poker, tipping $1 a pot, every pot you win (with the obvious exception of blind steals, chops, etc.) should not be a big deal.

I currently work in a field that requires tipping. It has to be done, or things don't get done. Whether you like it or not the better tippers will receive better service. There is very little a dealer can do to help you just because you are a good tipper.

As an example: Playing 6/12 heads up at showdown. With a 4 straight on the board, and no flush out there we turn over our hands. He turns over QJ for a J high straight. I turn over my J but leave the other card down. At this point I was playing for 10 hours, about to leave I was pretty tired. Anyway the dealer says "you might want to turn your other card over" in a nice way. I had watched this same dealer muck 2 other players cards after they did this during my session.

Sometimes it pays to be generous. There's more to life than saving $1 every pot you win.

You already are. 3% of the prize pool is withheld for staff. I actually like a system like this better.

you are a scumbag with your pathetic "tip schedule." Please do keep your cheap ass online where the rest of the scum stiffs belong.

hey al, you know i was half kidding there.. society enforces all those BS rules that makes you feel guilty if you don't tip - thus I do tip, and I tip dealers as you would approve.. It is a shame though

oh hell yeah lasvegasadvisor.com shows a chart of the payoffs of the different tourneys around town - AND suprisningly - it looks like an average of 20% of the prizepool is ALREADY withheld for the staff... based on this silent THEFT of our loot before we even win back our risked buy-ins... OMG, tipping in addition to this larceny is a travesty... [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

That "staff" witholding is BS...most of that goes to the greedy floors and the house...not the dealers...

On a side note, why do these posts continually show up? Over and over again, people come on here and want a pat on the back for admitting they are cheap. I don't care if you decide not to tip, but for the love of God, STOP POSTING IT ON HERE!
