This is Fancy Play Syndrome. If you think you're ahead, just bet -- the only BB you'll get from his is now while there's still a card to come, and he's not likely to be smart enough to interpret your turn check to mean that he can now bluff at the pot. If he's holding a weaker made hand, he'll just check behind again.
