Re: Quick, common question re. KQo preflop

That does it..... I'm obviously playing too LAGgy. I think I'm sitting at about VPIP 27 and PFR 20. I think I'm gonna try to trim those numbers down a little.

impossible to tell based on that

I used to 3-bet this as a default. I did a sim w/ pokerstove and the equity is not pretty:

equity (%)
41.1826 % { KQo }
58.8174 % { 77+, A9s+, KTs+, QJs, ATo+, KJo+ }

true.

I'm more basing it on the fact that I feel a little laggy lately. Especially in light of that recent thread where everyone was going on about how Vehn, Schneids, etc used to be 20/15......

just make the best decisions you can and don't worry about it unless there's something obviously wrong. if you're misplaying a lot of hands, tighten up

Follow-up question

Say you have lots (> 500) hands on UTG (who raised PF) and it's folded to you in CO. What is (roughly) the x such that:

If his PFR is < x, I fold.
If his PFR is > x, I raise.
(Is there an interval where you cold-call?)

Second question: If he's LAGgy enough that you 3-bet him in the CO with KQo, what is the smallest x that you'd rather be 3-betting him with Axo instead of KQo?

I know that other factors come into play -- particularly how poorly or well the villain plays postflop, but I think we could come up with some generic estimate here.

My views right now (as a beginner) are:
I 3-bet if his PFR is > 25% or so, and I think I'd prefer to 3-bet with ATo but not A9o.

SECOND SCENARIO

Okay,

Let's say you're on the Button with KQo, and it's folded around to the CO who openraises. What's your play?

(again, assume no reads).

I fold, I pretty much only 3 bet a CO raise on the button with this. KQs I'll 3 bet an MP raise from CO or button. arbitrary I know but that's what I do...

I'd really prefer to have a read here... but since I dont, I'll tell you that I have to go under the assumption that no read = avg 10/20 stealer. My default here= 3bet his ass.
