Indeed. I've always found that burning airlines really DO give you so much more.

This is one of the most refreshing (and best) posts I've seen in this forum in a long time. It's a mature and realistic perspective on how to think when you're playing, and it all seems pretty well steeped in solid logic to me.

Thanks.

Great post, Monty. One of the best things I've read on 2+2 in some time.

Re: Out of Body Poker, extremely long and possibly ridiculous.

Thanks guys. This idea was sort of inspired by GoT's "no more crying calls" post, and thinking about how difficult it is to find the right play when it's YOUR hand on the river, and how the correct frame of mind is to imagine that you just happen to be observing the hand, you can see the guy's cards and all the preceding action etc. and you're offered a side-bet on whether he holds the winning hand and the terms of the wager just happen to be [size of pot] to [one bet] - do you take the side-bet? So maybe that's the frame of mind you should strive to have (if you want to find the best play) in every situation.

Basically, it's like sweating yourself. I doubt I will ever be able to do this consistently (or at all), but it's an interesting goal to shoot for.

Not to quibble, but ego detachment isn't exactly a new idea. And yes, the original post is excellent.

Nice post. It took me several days to get to it because your subject line scared me off.
