I think it only hides you from other pokeredge users.

Pretty sure if you use pokeredge your stats can't be viewed by people using poker edge. Thus... they know that you've purchased it if you don't show up in their stats, right?

Of course, he could just be using PT and have a huge number of hands on you with you having reasonable stats, and assuming that since you multitable and you're good, you must be using something to help you out.

His stats weren't NA though, so if he was a user, he wasn't blocking his own stats, and I don't know why anyone would point out a fellow user. I mean, talk about scaring away the fish.

Actually, I think I've seen somewhere on the net a tool that let's you see if you're being watched by pokeredge (if you're in the DB). If you're not, then you have purchased it.

Therefore, this guy's at a website punching all his opponents' names into this thing, reporting people who have purchased pokeredge.

Now, just because you purchased it doesn't mean that you're using it, but I'm not sure if Empire will see it that way...

Also, I guess Empire could just use the same site on all its usernames to see who's been buying this program.

How do you block your stats??

http://www.poker-edge.com/hide.php - you'll need to be a PE user, obviously.

Any good miner already has your stats. Don't worry about it.

damn, that's some pretty good marketing. having people not see my stats definitely has some tangible value

This is all just silly anyway. Using PE doesn't violate the terms of agreement any more than poker tracker or taking notes.

Re: Outed at the table for using Poker Edge

well that depends on how you read their new 'AI'/player profiling policy - it's a mess but on some constructions any automated player profiling could be against TOS

the difference from Party/Empire's point of view is that note-taking is supported by the site itself and PT has a wide range of applications that work across many sites and at least some of which (import of HH etc) are positively supported by Party
PE only has one purpose and that is to specifically mine and provide data on Party users - if they were going to attack any tool that wasn't an actual bot then I'd expect PE to be first on the list

I thought about that for a while actually, but to be honest if someone wants to go to the trouble of using Poker-Edge or any other data mining app, then I don't care if they have a look at my stats. All it will tell them is that I am someone you can't mess with easily, and that can't be 1/2 bad.

Seems unlikley. PE actually has a "get PE free when you sight up for Empire" promotion, so the PE guys are affiliates as well apparently (somewhat new, that offer wasn't there when I got PE originally).

I understand the point though.
