Check out The Chip Board . You will learn a ton, and can figure out who to buy from. They even have FAQ's for beginners.

Re: Chip Collecting

Here's something that occured to me recently. A chip collector should probably make a little effort to get a chip(s) from the Alladin casino in Las Vegas. Within a year, the name is going to be changed to Planet Hollywood and the Alladin name should disapear from Vegas for good.

Re: Chip Collecting

Just go around town, and pick up a $1 chip from each place. If they have a poker room, buy a rack or two, and while you're playing, look for the chip in the best condition.

I did this 10 years ago. I'm now the proud owner of chips from such places as the Sands, Desert Inn, Hacienda...what other places have blown up in recent years?

Re: Chip Collecting

I was talking to the manager at my local room last weekend, I guess that they had 20 chips that were marked wrong. They were white chips with a 5 dollar sticker on them, they are somewhat old but I have no idea how old, and only 20 exist. They had 2 left and some guy paid 100 dollars for 1 of them last week. If the final one interests anybody I'll give you the cardroom information and who to talk to.

I've done business with them and it was top notch service. Got a circa 1980's Binion's Horseshoe $100 chip for my card protector, as well as a few other things.

I was thinking of starting a chip collection.

Has anyone done business with a reliable on-line chip collectors/dealer and if so can you hook me up with them?

Regards
Jim
