Re: Please help me fix my AK; Part 1
Looks good to me. I would probably raise a little more on the flop, he probably isn't going anywhere but at least you get more money in while your ahead. JMO

Re: Please help me fix my AK; Part 1
For my oppinion if y miss the flop with Ak then its better for y to shut down, becoz guy bets into you 2$ y raised 6$ and why? If i was him i never fold my hand to such small reraise if i had something. If y raise allin then you probably make him fold, but reraising with nothing isnt smart thing i think. in my opinion y should fold.

Re: Please help me fix my AK; Part 1
I think you played this hand fine. A slightly bigger raise would be OK here as well. Villain played this hand absolutely horribly. He bets weak into the pot, calls a raise with nothing, and then when he does hit he gives up on the hand. Pure idiocy. Hopefully you got a lot of money from him later on.
I think you did ok. You raise with a whiffed AK, got a call and gave up on the hand. That's usually what I would do. Just dont forget to mix your play up sometimes. Against opponents like your villain, however, I doubt mixing your play has any purpose. |
Re: Please help me fix my AK; Part 1
Though lots of people are saying that a larger raise on the flop was warrented, I don't think so, because someone who calls a raise of that size with AQ is prone to go to the river on almost anything. Im not sure that you could have done much more with that hand.

Malachi is absolutely right. Since this is a cash game you may have (at best 6 outs, but possibly 3 if he shares one of your cards), I'd let it go.

Field-strip it, making sure there's no dirt or grease to clog the actions. A standard oiling and wipe-down will fix 90% of your jamming problems.
