Sure, but be prepared to have people give you weird looks and ask you what you are doing. Some don't like it, others think you're taking the game too seriously.

Of course you "can" (but you shouldn´t).

Re: Beginner Stud Question

The technique advised by Roy West works very well early, but begins to break down late, espcecially when opponents refuse to fold. One way to handle this seems to work for me. I survey the board and ask myself what I don't see. If the answer coincides with a board I see, or a hand my opponent is representing then I have a read I can combine with his or her tendencies, body language, gleam in the eye, or whatever. I can then put them on a hand and decide what to do. Taking this approach will speed up your play.

Re: Is it kosher to just write everything down in a notebook?

For what it's worth I was playing 5-10 at the Mirage one night when a "tourist" asked this question to a Pit Boss.

Pit Boss says, "It's Ok if you don't slow the game down." (Spoken like a true Pit Boss!)

However, the player reaction against it was so bad the "tourist" decided not to.

I'd be interested in knowing if there really is a rule regarding the issue.
