All the dealers that I spoke with on Saturday at the Bellagio made it very clear that they did not like dealing in the big game because they did not make any money from tokes.

Where do you deal at? I was actually talking more about the major casinos in Vegas/etc. And from what I observed there not only are they short-staffed (ie dealers dealing 7-8 downs in a row without a break) but they were getting tipped almost every pot, many pots at more than 1 dollar. And these were the low 2/4 and 3/6 tables.

Define "big game". If you are talking about 200/400 type game, I agree. Everything the dealers said about the tokes and the players gave me the impression that tarring roofs in July was more attractive to them. I was talking about one specific "very big" game that was outside of the norm (at that time for the Bellagio).

It's my contention that the players at the 2/4 and 3/6 are better tippers on average than at the higher limits. First of all, many are there for a good time, and that includes not being a tightwad. If you're there thinking about BB/Hr., well that might change your whole attitude about tipping J.D. Secondly, many of these players have worked in the service industries themselves at some point, so they tip good. What goes around comes around.

My sister-in-law works as a waitress, is a single mom with two kids, makes maybe 25K/yr. Tips better than anyone I've ever met.

When I started playing (~3 years ago) a dealer at Excal was saying she used to deal the mid and higher level games at Binions several years before and if she never dealt to the "pros" again she'd be thrilled. No tips and very hostile and abusive.

She told a story about a "well known" player at that time who broke the hand of a dealer by smashing his fist on the table in frustration and the dealer's hand happened to be right there. Anyone ever hear that talk and know who the player may have been?

Big game in my case is defined as the 2000/4000 mixed game at the Bellagio featuring Barry Greenstein, Gus Hansen, Sammy Farha, Jennifer Harman and others.

Damn, pokermama... is that okiepoker? I think I inferred that form another thread. If so I definitely believe it... I've seen people in SE OK leave $0.25 on a $10 tab. I was so embarrased to be seen with this guy that I feigned having to go to the bathroom and then came back to the bar and dropped the bartender $2. He gave me a free shot ($3.50 at this place) after he determined I wasn't driving. I guess 20% is a pretty big tip for a bartender in SE OK.

In that game it's no secret. They throw $25 at the beginning of the down. The same person that pays the time pays the dealer. I've dealt the game many times. There was only one time player A threw me $200 when I got up. He ran the game over in 30 minutes for a little under 1.5 million. That's the only time anyone ever tossed an extra.

I deal at thunderbird in Norman,OK.. but by reading the posts here it is fairly the same.. no one want's to deal the 2-5 no limit game cause tips are way low there.. maybe 5 bucks for a 30 minute down...

I deal the 2-5 just to learn and work on my own skills.. (amazing how great your people reading skills improve while dealing)

YES!! the 3/6 4/8 and even 10/20 players tip better than the higher no limit games..

I try to be professional in all my dealings.. and I am looking forward to dealing Vegas after I get my 6 months in here..
