Re: Italians

Your question is flawed because being latin and being caucasian are not mutually exclusive of one another.

im sorry if this is common knowledge, but are italians considered latin or caucasian?

Is there a spain<-->italy connection anywhere?

[/ QUOTE ]

That depends, are we talking about the part of Italy that was conquered by the spanish, the africans, the greeks, the swiss, the germans, or the french?

White.

So do Arabs according to the U.S. census bureau last I checked.

OK here it is off the website.

[ QUOTE ]
The following definitions apply to the 2000 census only.

White refers to people having origins in any of the original peoples of Europe, the Middle East, or North Africa. It includes people who indicated their race or races as "White" or wrote in entries such as Irish, German, Italian, Lebanese, Near Easterner, Arab, or Polish. (See also Whites)

Re: Italians

You are thinking of Sicilians....

The Island was conquered like 13 times in history and blood from all sorts of people mingle in Sicilians.

Some of the conquerors:

Greeks Romans Turks Nordics Arabs Maghrebis

Put that in a blender and go to town.

Who would typically be Sicillian, and speak a different dialect of Italian. Whole lotta Greek in there. Rome was founded by a conglomeration of tribes. Tuscans are the "true" Italians. All IIRC, of course, it's been awhile.
