AA is actually a pretty bad when you play it this poorly.

That said, even if you played this hand well you would have lost all your money.

yeah, and don't make a min reraise with your first raise. it's something that you'll never see a good player do with any cards in any position. keep posting though... it'll help, i promise.

AA is amazing if you can get all in on the flop. This is a bad beat story and is not indicative of how good / bad a hand is. If you had raised again preflop like you should, then you would have gotten all in with a 82% chance to win. This time, you got in ahead but lost anyway. That will happen in poker, and it's what keeps the bad players coming back thinking they can win.

WTF are you thinking? Your opponent is braindead or you misclicked, this is almost as bad as your first hand.

Count your blessings, learn to take the beats, and poker will be a lot less painful for you than its going to be.

once UTG min-raised pre-flop you had to bet much bigger. The min-raise says AA, KK, AK -- so he is probably going to hang around regardless of your raise. You don't necessarily want multiple callers. I would have made it $5 to go. (aside: UTG's min-raise also sucked -- once he did it, you re-raised, and he re-re-raised, you should have made it even bigger.)

On the flop, you must raise here -- I would have over bet the pot -- a significant chunk (50%?) of UTG's stack.

BAD BEAT ALERT! BAD BEAT ALERT!

Sorry to break it to you, but you played this hand pretty bad. The villain makes a minraise preflop, and you... minreraise? I'm sorry, I thought we were playing no limit. Raise his ass to at least $3.5. If he reraises you again (like he did in this hand), then come over the top. DO NOT SLOWPLAY AA AGAINST A PREFLOP RAISER. You want to get as much money as possible in preflop when you have the nuts. You'd probably still lose this hand, but at least you got the money in with the best of it.

Flop: Rainbow flop, you're probably still ahead. UTG makes a weak bet, only 1/4 of the pot. RAISE!!! He will call you. You cannot slowplay a single pair in NL, even if it is AA.

Turn: It's an easy call, but I'm convinced that the only way you'd get your money in this hand is if he bet it all for you. It's just being too weak tight. I'm guessing your new to NL and perhaps this is a big jump bankroll wise. Your actions just seem to say you're playing with scared money, so you may need to think about dropping to a lower limit.

River: Obviously a bad beat, but believe me, every single one of us on this board have had much worse than you. MUCH WORSE. Bad beat stories just don't get sympathy around here. I'm happy to help critique hands, just remember your emphasis should be on making the right plays at the right times, not whether you won or lost the hand.

with pocket aces or king u will a) lose a big pot or b) win a small one. in that case tho u were unlucky and should have gotten more aggressive raising and try to steal the pot if u think possible.

Re: youre right.

JrJordan i think you hit the nail on the head. i was playing with scared money. im fairly new at no limit and have been mostly playing 5+1 and 10+1 SNGs where im slightly up. here i didnt have time to play a full tourney so decided to play some cash hands. pushing in real dollars is different than pushing in chips.

thanks for pointing it out.
