No offense taken. I agree that's most likely what he was implying, but hey, better to ask just to make sure that I'm not missing something.

If my hand will be called by lesser hands then yes, I will bet the river, but if my hand is most likely dominated, and will be called by a better hand, then I would be better off checking, so as to avoid a check raise.

I play one table at a time, so that I can get a good read on what players will bet, call or raise with. And if I read that I am dominated by my opponent, then I will slow down my play on the river and instead call for just one bet.
