Why do people prefer to play Limit rather to NL when Bonus Whoring?

[/ QUOTE ]
I usually clear bonuses while playing NL. Many bonus whores play limit for the same reason they play $1-$2 rather than $10-$20 while clearing bonuses. They don't win or are too scared to play in more profitable games.

NL has less variance than limit when you compare stakes where experts would have the same win rate (rather than big blind). Most sites do require you to play larger NL games than limit games to clear bonuses.

To ilustrate the variance of NL, here were the results of clearing my September poker bonuses:<ul type="square">
InterPoker: +$152 after clearing $120 in bonus money, but a ~$250 loss in the casino. In addition, I get a hat and SS2.
PokerPlex: +$303
UKBetting: +$182
TotalBet: +$310
William Hill: +$262 (includes casino)
Caribbean: +$720
Party: +$676
Bet365: +$273
Bodog: +$1007
PokerRoom: +$2205 (special SNG promotion added $1700, plus a hat)[/list]
I invite those who think limit has lower variance to post how much they won/lost while clearing bonuses in September by playing limit. My guess is that their numbers won't be as consistent.

you made that much money from Whoring in just 1 month? That was NL?

I would say I made that much while bonus whoring. I rarely play without a bonus, but most of the money was won at the tables. Only about $1200 came from bonuses. For example, at Party, $200 of the $676 was a bonus, and $476 was won at the tables. (My projection was $800. Variance happens.) I think many bonus whores waste their time concentrating on bonuses rather than on improving their games. Why not win more by playing poker well (for real stakes) while you clear bonuses?

Most of that was NL ring games from NL $100 to NL $400 (and NL GBP 200).

An exception was at PokerRoom, where I played mainly SNGs for their Labor Day promotion.

Also, at Bodog, I played a variety of games including 5 card stud, 7 card stud, Omaha, Omaha8, NLHE, LHE, SNGs, and MTTs. I think I mainly played PL Omaha and PL Omaha8 there.

My point on this thread is that the variance of NL can be quite low while it still allows you to win substantially more than the bonus. I have lost money while clearing bonuses at NL, including dropping 3 buy-ins at NL $200 while clearing the last PokerNow reload bonus, but in September I came out ahead on every site before the bonus, and usually I'll lose on only one site. I think I win much more consistently before the bonus than those who play limit.

Okay Okay Okay.

1. Less Variance (For less experineced players.)

Re: Whoring

I would venture to say that the main reason is because Limit ring games have been more plentiful and have been around longer, so that is what most people learned to play.
No limit ring games really have just started to spring up massively since the Money Maker WSOP.

So, most people who's main game is limit will stay with their main game while clearning bonus's.

I would think that the percentage is realitively small of people who switch their main game during bonus clearing.

I can multitable more Limit than No Limit games. Also my clickless mouse software only really works with Limit.

Most people currently playing poker weren't playing before the Moneymaker WSOP.

The VHF Mousing System™ is a ‘bundle’ of the E-Quill-AirO2bic™ and Nib Click-Less™ software
