[EDIT] Another reason I like checking the turn is that, assuming the river bricks, you'll lose less when behind and gain more if your opponent decides to bluff. If he has nothing, he'll probably be tempted to fire a decent sized amount out since you've shown so much weakness. If he has you beat, he'll probably fire a much smaller bet since you've shown so much weakness.

Could you be so kind and give an actual $ range for the bets ur talking about above in this particular hand?

Probably not because I was half full of it when I posted Seriously I think that's hard to quantify because I know very little about the player. Typically if someone is going to swipe at that pot with a worse hand (~T10k so far), they will probably bet in the range of 3-6k. I suspect that someone who had a monster, one which will almost never be the nuts at this point, will probably bet in the range of 2-4k.

In the villian's eyes, our hero does not like his hand very much, or at least not enough to try and protect it on the turn, so the only way villian might get paid off is to make the bet very enticing. Likewise, if the villian has nothing or suspects that they might be beat, they might be tempted to fire a bet on the river that will scare off our hero, who's already shown that they aren't comfortable enough with their hand to bet..

This probably doesn't answer your question, but it's late and it's the best I could do
