Excellent report

I am fortunate enough to flop top set and have opponents checkraising me. A guy who is so passive that he check/calls top pair whenever he hits complains about always getting drawn out on. A lot of people are bad at poker.

[/ QUOTE ]

and yea...everyone seems bad when you flop top set

I knew I'd forget some stuff. We also wandered throughout the Wynn resort and came across the art gallery. It's pretty nice; just two rooms with a total of maybe 15 paintings, but a good collection nonetheless. Van Gogh, Monet, Renoir, plus Matisse, Picasso, and Warhol.

But during this conversation he tells us an amusing Commerce story that I believe, since it takes place at Commerce.

A wild gambooler at the 100/200 game has been spraying chips all night and is on crazy monkey tilt. He picks up AA and flops a set, only to lose to a wheel on the river. The dude flips out and produces a lighter, then proceeds to flick it and set the two aces on fire. The smoke alarm goes off and the floorman rushes over asking what the hell is going on.

"These," the player says, holding up the melting plastic aces in his hand, "are the burn cards."

Is it awesome to have a girlfriend that plays poker(and is good at it, I assume)?

[/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, it's great to be able to talk poker with the girl. She could use some work on her limit holdem game, but she's doing great in NL -- consistently cashing in live NL tournaments. I actually met her at the Bike in an 8/16 game. I think I fell for her when she waited for the turn to raise a LAG.

See you at Commerce one of these days, although I play NL I peek in at Limit once in a while.

[/ QUOTE ]

Cool. I also go to H-Park now to play the 15 and 20 games there, if you still play in that dump.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yeah I still play at HPark, only because its the closest casino to my house. After going to the Bike I was thoroughly disappointed with HPark.

Care to explain? Are you just one of those people who prefers ribeye? Also, steak fries are often a top dish at many restaurants.

As for how it's cooked -- I believe most food critics will tell you rare or medium rare is the only way to have a steak. If it's cooked medium or stronger, the taste is gone. In fact, I never listen to anything someone says about steak or steak-related topics if they order medium-well.

Your reports are so readable for some reason. You're inspiring me to write my own trips reports.

I especially enjoyed the sidestory.

Yes...onion rings go better with an oaky cab and filet...btw I rate the Wynn buffet 2/10 in line with dog chow at Palace Station...rest of the Wynn = 9/10 .

UPDATE

[ QUOTE ]
I get to chatting with some of the guys at the table and one of 'em is from SoCal, says he plays at Commerce. I asked if he plays the 20/40 there, and he goes, "No, mostly 100/200." So I ask what he's doing condescending to us lowly mid-limiters, and he says he's just waiting until there's enough interest in a 30/60. But during this conversation he tells us an amusing Commerce story that I believe, since it takes place at Commerce.

A wild gambooler at the 100/200 game has been spraying chips all night and is on crazy monkey tilt. He picks up AA and flops a set, only to lose to a wheel on the river. "These," the player says, holding up the melting plastic aces in his hand, "are the burn cards."

The rich 100/200 SoCaler drops a couple racks and changes tables.

[/ QUOTE ]

I ran into this gentleman again, last night at Commerce while playing 20/40 with Hobbs. His name is Jeff and he is very kind.

But he told me another tale that was so tall it calls into question the "burn cards" story.

Jeff was in a juicy 40/80 game the other night and picked up J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. The flop came A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (of course, why else tell the story, etc.), and the flop got capped against 2 opponents.

The turn paired the K, and went 2 bets before one opponent dropped, and Jeff made it 3 bets. His heads up opponent checkraised the river and they "went to war" again. Villian had AK and was evidently sad to see a ginormous pot shipped to a flopped royal. (Supposdly the third player had JT of another suit).

Next time I see Jeff, I look forward to his pleasant converastion and expect to hear how he wrestled an alligator while defending his BB, and runner-runnered queens full, betting all streets dark with his head inside the mouth of the great reptile.
