The bigger question is what did Cheney say when he was questioned by Fitzgerald. If he said everything that the Times is reporting then it's no biggy and Libby is the only one to get hammered(It's already been reported that Libby's testimony was less than truthful).
However if Cheney were to have stated the opposite of what the Times is reporting...then that's a whole nother story.

Either way Bush's second term is in the shitter for good and unless we catch Osama Bin Laden...it will go down as a complete [censored]-up.

I for one can't wait to see the Mier's hearings

I think for the most part people here, and in the media in general, are missing the entire point. Libby gets Plame's name from Cheney. OK, but WHY?

Because her husband completely discredited one of the Adminstrations chief selling points for the Iraq war?
That the entire case for the war in Iraq was fabricated by the WHIG and sold as a bill of goods to the US and Congress?

Is that why Fitzgerald is now expanding his investigation into the clearly forged Niger uranium documents?

It will be a very interesting week. And forget about the Miers hearings. Ain't never gonna get that far.

So people would understand that Wilson got the job for other reasons than his stellar credentials and sleuthing ability.

You mean, heaven forbid, his wife recommended him for the job? Nah, that just makes entirely too much sense. I like the Conspiracy Theories (cue background sound effects: dah dah dah daaaaaaaaaaaaaah!) better. Complicated and Machiavellian are waaaaaaaaay cooler.

Wow - explosive stuff.

We've gone from perjury, obstruction of justice, and conspiracy at the highest levels in the White House to Treason and Mass Murder.

If it was proven that the White House knowingly lied about WMD's in Iraq, then every death - the death of every soldier and every civilian - would be tantamount to murder.

Perjury. Obstruction of Justice. Conspiracy. Treason. Mass Murder.

My God, it's unraveling.

Maybe I don't understand you, but it seems like you're arguing that the 16 words in Bush's State of the Union, that Wilson blew the whistle on in the NYT, were accurate?

[ QUOTE ]
The White House acknowledged for the first time today that President Bush was relying on incomplete and perhaps inaccurate information from American intelligence agencies when he declared, in his State of the Union speech, that Saddam Hussein had tried to purchase uranium from Africa. The White House statement appeared

You don't understand and that's not what I'm arguing.

Unless you believe that that the entire case of WMD's was about the Niger uranium, you can't agree with Mt.Small's point that Wilson "completely discredited" the WMD argument.
