C(N,R) = N!/[(N-R!) * R!]

! is the symbol for factorial. It's the multiplication of all the numbers between 1 and itself. So:

4! = 4 * 3 * 2 * 1
8! = 8 * 7 * 6 * 5 * 4 * 3 * 2 * 1

Thank you - LetYouDown - you didn't! I now understand the formula. Next step is to memorize the table. Another challenge.

The first one is before you have looked at your cards. With all dealt cards face down, what is the probability that no one has an ace. Think about an observer watching the game who can't see any hole cards. I don't know why you would want to use this one.

The second one assumes you have checked your hole cards and you have two non-ace cards.
