Yea, I have to June 30th, but I wanted to be on a pace that would almost assure me of making it, trying to take into consideraton any medical or family emergency that might occur.

As far as the rake goes, I don't have a clue. I have mostly played $1/$2 and $ 25 NL, with some limits all the way up to $5/$10 thrown in.

Mr. True chimed in about this last week and for obvious reasons cares not to divulge that figure. I do believe that their rake collected is much less than if these hands were had been played on Party.

I'm sure there are tons of great reviews, but, basically, it's a 2+2 book on no limit hold'em tournament strategy. You're about to play in a 10K buyin NLHE tournament which you've worked extremely hard to get into and you consider yourself a dog and would like to learn more about NLHE strategy. You'd have to be insane not to buy it.

Well, I am a little mentally unbalanced, as I have proven that by taking on this challenge. With that said I think it is a no brainer to purchase this book along with vol. # 2.

Just remember, by playing 430 hands/hr for so long, you will have a MONSTER time to think advantage over everyone.

The thing that I notice most when going from live to online is the difference in time compression. It takes a while to get accustomed to how much slower things are and how much time you have to work with. There is just so much more time to put reads on folks. The downside is that online you don't have to hide your thoughts/feelings so much and it may take some practice to get your poker face on.

If you have some live play near you, the week or two before we leave would be a great time to put in some live action. I'm looking at the Bike's Mini Series of Poker as warm up here.

Yea, I also had already thought about getting in some "live practice" due to the difference playing online vs. B & M.

I thought about making a road trip to the closest casino to play some live action. As far as tournies at the casino and around, I am not sure. I am also planning a WSOP "kick-off" party with family and friends and we might play a tourney for small stakes.

I am thinking by some token it might help me really focus on the other players at the table and help pick up any possible "tells" due to all the extra time I will have between hands. Also how I view the time speed of each hand vs. my opponents perception of how fast things are happening could be an advantage for me.

Cloutier's and McEnvoy's Tournament NLHE book comes to mind. I haven't read it, but TJ has had a little success in NLHE tournaments. From what I have heard, it advises super tight strategy. You can't go wrong with a 2+2 book though so Harrington's may be better.

Just remember, when you play in B and M, that you will be playing 1 hand in the time it takes to play 15 or so hands 6-8 tabling online. Be patient and realize you don't make a move until you have too.

Best of luck man. You may have only played 3 B and M tournaments, but Moneymaker won his firs at the Main Event.

Since you will only be able to play one hand at a time I suggest (although you may already have thought of this) try to be very patient. 30 hands an hour can screw with you just as 400+ can. Wait for the good cards and dont get impatient.
