Nice...how much have you won? I knew that things would eventually come together for you.

My advice...find something you actually like and feel challenged playing, and work on your game there. Treat yourself a bit (upgrade your monitors, perhaps?), or, if you don't feel like playing poker, go on a short trip with friends to somewhere fun.

I have the same problem as the Op. I can win $1k and not really care because I don't need the money. Plus, money has been no help for me to get the things I really want..

I don't know how much clayton has, but i have 130k and already donate a lot to charity. Right now I have almost all of it invested in mutual funds and am planning on buying a nice house when I graduate.

But it still kills my motivation to work or make money.

i'd suggest not donating it to any charities, at least not anything substantial. being young, investing will really really help your money grow. if you're bored, maybe researching stocks and stuff and following your money will be fun.

i admit that i have the opposite of you, a definite spending problem. on one hand, you can figure we're making money most kids our age would never dream of so we should treat ourselves to lots of toys. on the other, we have an opportunity to make our futures better/easier by investing and using more of it later.

i suggest you buy a few new things, at least a new TV, maybe some clothes, give a small amount away, and put the rest in some stocks or funds.

i don't think he's trying to show off. he's got extra money that 99% of college students have no chance of making even if it is "only" 5 or 10k.

Put money away into an IRA or something like that. What kind of a question is this? You don't have too much money, are you just trying to brag?

It's a matter of perspective. There's really no point in me saying how much I've made in this topic of discussion because x amount might seem small to some of you.

Thanks for all the replies.

why not use the $$ to play higher stakes poker? then you can make even more $$.

i never compare myself to other, "normal" college freshmen and think about how much money i have compared to them. i only think about how little i have compared to guys like the people in the hot tub. i mean, instead of thinking about it as, "hey, i can play this game as a job and make more money than my friends at mcdonalds, how cool is that," think of it as an opportunity to make a life changing amount of money that can give u alot of freedom after u graduate. in other words, instead of buyin some nice clothes at the mall with ur poker winnings, think about making enough so that you can go out and buy the whole [censored] mall

thats how i see it anyway
