Any game in Las Vegas from 10/20 and down.

Is this true? I always feared competition at Vegas. I had this notion that people played well. Am I wrong?

1/2 limit holdem at Ocean's 11 in Oceanside. Lots of new players and calling stations. Overall everyone is there to have fun so it's a good atmosphere. Going in with an intense attitude would defeat the purpose of the game. Lately there's been lots of games going since the bad beat jackpot is over $30K. It's a fun way to spend an evening without risking too much $$$. Playing tight should ensure that you end up on the positive side of things.

i personally find more difficult competition in vegas per the same limits as my local casino. 5/10 local plays like 2/4 vegas for example imho.

opened the poker room back in may or so, and all the Dallas/Fort Worth people attacked it. best part is that the lowest limits they started were 4/8 lmit and 2/5 nl (min 300/max 500 buy-in). you had 2/5 no playing like a 1/2 or worse nl(vegas) game and 4/8 playing like 1/2 or 2/4 limit(vegas) at best. basically a lot of people with too much money wanting action.
typically saw people making over a grand at the 4/8 table in an all-day session.
a few solid players in the mix, mostly up at 20/40 or 5/10 nl. also, i did see amarillo slim sitting casually at the 5/10 nl (min 500/max 1000) table one afternoon taking everyone's money.

so you think people learned yet or at least got tired losing big time against people who obviously know the game better? or is the poor action you mentioned still there? (might pay it a visit lol)

3 years ago this was much more true. Before the boom, games were much tougher in LV. Since the boom, the games are great. There is so much more action that the pool of good locals is diluted. And there are tons of lousy locals as well as fishy tourists!

Qwik story, 3-4 years ago I came to town to play and see how I fared against some of the local grinders. I'm in a 10-20 game at the Horseshoe. I muck for 3-4 rounds then open raise utg. 1 local flips up his pocket 9's face up and says "well these are no good".

However they were much easier to read also. Making it easier to take them off a hand back then. Not so much so today as they are tired of laying down when the wackos have raised with nuttin. The games are much more aggressive now. Hence many of the locals are also calling stations now too!!

Casino Arizona's 5-150 was pretty darn weak! In 2.5 hrs there were 4 rebuys to the 350 limit. People would call a $30 raise with K5 Off. Completely crazy maniacs. Few people noticed me limping in and were more concerned with the games on TV. Man would I love to play here all the time, I can't see why a good player couldn't pull down a nice little income from this game.....

My home casino, Turning stone, in NY has fairly tight play on the lower limit games, so profitability is low. The 1-2 $100 max no limit hold'em game is pretty weak b/c there are a lot of college players who play under-rolled and are too tight pre-flop and overaggressive with drawing hands.

Basically, the card clubs in Dallas are ridiculously weak. I played with swolfe, and he said that they are even more profitable than Winstar. You'd think that Texans could play some poker, but I swear, there are at least two guys in my normal game(2/5 NL) that will call off 100-200 bucks on a gutter straight draw(really!). I've pushed all in with TPTK against two people on a fairly dangerous board before with absolutely no fear of being any other than in good shape.

The only downside is trying to adjust my game when someone who is actually decent sits down...
