ATLEAST 75hz in 1600*1200, 85 (or more, but just a bonus) is preferable. For CRT that is. 60hz is the "norm" on a TFT, and is comparable to 85 on a CRT.

If you are gonna save some money for a TFT instead I recomend the one I have, this. And am very happy about it, zero pixels broken on mine. Won't let you quadtable but if you are looking for a 1280*1024 TFT I would recomend it. It has high contrast and low latency and pivot. I run it at 70hz. I have the T model (buy no other). If you decide to save up for a 1600*1200, the Dell 2001fp is the good budget alternative (with rebates), and Samsung 213T the real stuff.

I can't vouch for the company, but this link was posted here a while back. There are others out there like it at similar prices.

I was going to buy one, but decided to go for the 2001FP instead. It only takes a few bonuses to pay for it.

I would pay the extra $24 and get http://www.accurateit.com/details.asp?iid=496# instead, also includes shipping in the price and is not grade b. Good price for a referbished monitor with that specs. Trinitron tubes are by far the best. Take a look at that one jmiller if you are intrested in a refurbished one.

Upgrade your graphics drivers and directx and install the correct monitor driver when you get the monitor. The quality should be superb! If I wanted a cheap monitor I would by it myself

Re: $100 for a monitor for non-overlap 4 tabling

I just got the monitor today and its really sweet. However on the 1600x1200 setting the colors and graphics are bad, obviously I need to upgrade some things. Mymindisgoing, how do I go about doing this? (see below quote)

"Upgrade your graphics drivers and directx and install the correct monitor driver when you get the monitor."

Can anyone point me in the right direction? As you can see I am no computer expert, so help a guy out! Thanks.
