I counter with Oliver Miller. I'd say of the major four, it would definitely have to be the NHL, since a fat guy can play the other 3.

i would say there isn't a major four.

Sure. NFL, MLB, NBA, NASCAR.

You might, but the numbers don't lie. They have far and away surpassed the NHL in popularity, both measured with attendance and with TV ratings.

for anyone who has seen any rugby for even a little bit would say that that would be the obvious answer. You are running a very good amount, and hitting too. Its not as anarobic as the NFL because the play is almost always moving. You will never find any out of shape professional rugby players

I played rugby in highschool and watch it all the time on FSN World Sports Channel. The forwards are larger and they are not in better shape than NBA players.

NFL, hands down.

[/ QUOTE ]

I disagree. Half the NFL is obese, what with their over 300 pound linemen.

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm always amazed at how athletic those fat men are though. They keep getting both bigger and faster. Freaks.

What about those World's Strongest Man competitors? Those guys are pretty amazing. I'm not saying they'd be out running marathons, but their functional strength and muscular endurance is incredible.

They're not really that fast at all. Their 40 times are unimpressive and they're setting themselves up for heart attacks. Just because they play pro football doesn't mean that they are any healthier than 6'3" 350 pound non-football players.

You're right. Their 40 times are not impressive, especially compared with much smaller guys. I guess I wasn't really talking about "fast". I was talking about quickness of the line. I won't make an argument that they're the best athletes. And I'm not saying they won't die of heart attacks. But they do keep getting both bigger and quicker, and they're amazingly athletic for their size.

But are we talking about healthy or athletic? They're not the same thing. Is the fact that they may die of a heart attack even relevant to this thread? I'll bet Shaq won't be able to walk five years after he retires from the pounding his knees have taken. The same is true for most NFLers and many gymnasts. Is that relevant to this?
