Sounds like at least a couple of people don't play limit. It definitely does matter, at least if you buy in too low (which is a common mistake, btw).

I play limit. I thought it went without saying that it doesn't matter assuming one always has at least 12BB in front of them.

I frequently see people buy in for 5 BBs, which is the minimum where I play, and I assume everywhere. I have seen people buy in for the minimum 10 times and lose it all everytime in a matter of 2-3 hours... Just insane.
