Re: which is more profitable? NL OR LIMIT?

[ QUOTE ] For me no limit has less swings than limit because you can make them pay to outdraw you, as in limit those idiots never fold. [/ QUOTE ] I hate it when people call with hands that are behind. It's costing me money I tell you!!!! [/ QUOTE ] youre right it is |
Re: which is more profitable? NL OR LIMIT?
De gustubus... and all that. Try them both. Figure out which one you like more and concentrate more on that one, but like several other people have already said, it's best to know a little about both.
Me, I'm a (bad) limit player who avoids NL cash games because I do poorly in the NL tournies I enter. Had I played more NL when I was just starting, I have a feeling I'd probably be doing better in both disciplines by now. But asking whether NL or limit is easier or more profitable is akin to asking whether cantaloupes or piccolos are more handsome. |

[ QUOTE ] NL is much of a "play premium hands" game compared to limit. [/ QUOTE ] I disagree. You cannot consistently beat any but the worst players playing only "premium hands". I am much more apt to play borderline hands for 1 bet in NL than in limit. Do you see why? [/ QUOTE ] In short, NL is all about implied odds and deception. I've noticed many of the limit players here seem to think NL is a game played with big starting hands, but limit is the big starting hand game. |
Re: which is more profitable? NL OR LIMIT?
NL is much easier to play as you can weak-tight in the lower limits and still hammer the games significantly. But limit is definitely more profitable as there are lots of fishies swimming in the mid-to-higher limits, the fishies just get slaughtered too fast and get discouraged in NL and it's rare to find a truly clueless player at the $400 NL buyin limits and above.
