Re: Help me accessorize this coat

Clark,

What is the coat made of? I would go with a black leather glove and a hat and scarf set that match each other but not black. I am not a big fan or red (to Mary Tyler Moore) but like the idea of a bugundy. Cashmere is good but I think it really depends on who wolly the coat looks. If it looks really wooly, then go with knit. If she is not into hat i suppose you could replace with earmuffs.

No leather, cashmere, wool

haha.

She'll wear red. What do you think about the gloves? LOL suggested keeping the gloves the same color as the coat.

I'll be at work, so can't reply, but I'll have this thread going to my email. Going straight from work to the Fashion Show to finish this outfit up.

FWIW, I think the scarf itself needs to be solid, so that would mean mixing up the hat.

Diamond earrings would look great with that coat.

It's a very fine suede coat, almost like a microfiber feel, with the faux fur collar. I looked at knit, and don't think that knit scarves would go as well as cashmere or some other similar style/texture of scarf.

And here I didn't think my girlfriend posted on 2+2.

You're going with black for the hat, right? Red gloves and scarf are fine, but the hat should match the jacket if the scarf doesn't, I'd think.

I'm leaning towards black gloves and red/red for scarf and hat right now.

Nah, she'd probably post this, wouldn't she? The accessory that every woman wants.

Yes, the coat is black.

So stick with black leather gloves for her. Her new car is fire engine red, so I don't think the red will be a problem. But I'm definitely not locked in. I tend to like her in 3 colors: black, white and red.

Beret is a good idea. She's not big into hats, so it'd be a great chance to try something really cute like that and hope to expand her horizons.

I am not a hat person myself. I have nothing against them--I just think they look ridiculous on me. I buy hooded coats or scarfs that are wide enough to throw over my head if it is chilly. But I have always liked those Russian-style fur hats (like fox). You can now get them in a wide variety of very convincing faux furs, so as to avoid the issue of endangered species and confrontations with animal rights advocates. I think a pretty face surrounded by a halo of fluffy fur looks good.
