Theres a difference between being politically correct/incorrect and being right/wrong. He made fun of Vu for the perceived stereotype that no Asians can pronounce the letter "L" correctly, not for any specifically personal problem that Vu had, nor any character issues. This was clearly a racist comment, not a non-politically-correct one. The possibility that it was sarcastic doesn't make it any better.
