The flop check was because the PFR was directly to my left--I didn't want him to raise out the field, and felt that a c/r would be better (EDIT: And obviously I'm not adverse to allowing a free card here). Especially since the table in general had been apt to take one off after the flop fairly often (and this was a very draw-heavy board, my draw being the strongest).

The preflop limp?

Okay, went back and checked my notes/stats on the players behind me. The PFR on the Button had a VPIP above 50, while the SB was tooling along at around 30. As such, I didn't feel that the raise would isolate, and with such a borderline hand as K8s, didn't think it was for value either. I obviously wasn't expecting a raise behind me, as none of the remaining players had seemed overly aggressive preflop. So why limp instead of fold? Because I'm a sucker for borderline hands in LP. Finally past 2/4 (instead of winning 50 BB at each level, I'm winning 25 BB for the next level -- so $150 @ 2/4 to move up to 3/6, $250 @ 3/6 to move up to 5/10. Makes more sense to me.

Anyway, first hand on my 3/6 table I lose a nice pot to a guy who coldcalled a UTG+1 raise with 73s and turned his flush. His name is DONKEY (along with three numbers tacked on).

Got ~180 more hands to work off for my bonus, then I'll give 15/30 a shot. Should be able to finish the bonus hands tomorrow night. [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]

If I get my 50 bets at 15/30, I'm calling it quits there. 30/60 is just too rich for my blood, and besides it's generally what, an 8 hour wait to get on a table?

Will you keep playing 15/30 then? That was my plan -- just keep using one table for OIC, until I hit 15/30 and never look back.

Uh, you know, that is, if I'm good enough. Which I'm not. But at least in my experience, I've been playing my normal level (.5/1 -- spending your 2/4 bankroll makes uw_madtown [img]/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img]) on three tables while using a fourth just for the OIC.

While it makes sense to stop at 15/30, you should stay there OIC style until you lose the 25 BBs (and thus drop down to 10/20) or until you have earned a bankroll large enough to play there permanently. :-p

Made it to 5/10! Gonna play that for an hour, and then I have an 8 page paper to BS.

I'll be playing 5/10 full ring, as I think 6-max is just begging for trouble.

From my own rather limited 5/10 experience, 6-max is easy money. Of course, that assumes that you're comfortable in short-handed situations...if you have no 6-max experience, you're probably better off sticking with full ring. FWIW, I played all my 5/10 OIC hands in 6-max. I had very little 6-max experience (maybe 5k total hands) prior, but playing 3/6 regularly you get a feel for a lot of short-handed (blind steal) play.

I would like to be able to stay at 15/30 indefinitely, but I just can't--my bankroll is too limited, and I do cash out at the end of every month which keeps it from growing too quickly. My limit of choice is still 3/6 with some 5/10 thrown in, but thanks to this challenge, I can see myself taking more shots at 10/20 in the future (as the roll grows each month). Depending on how I do at 15/30, the same might hold true there.
