Re: NEW E-MAIL FROM PARTY CONCERNING THE USE OF SOFTWARE

Bots can't cheat anyone out of their money, because bots can't cheat

Bots can cheat. Networked computer programs can easily be designed to collude with each other.

I would expect bots of a particular skill level to collude more effectively than human players of the same skill level. Humans waste valuable thinking time communicating and discussing while the bots can share the data and agree on how to use it in virtually no time at all.

Someone who would violate the T&C and people's trust by using illegal bots is unlikely to be deterred by the notion that colluding is cheating.

Re: Disturbing e-mail from partypoker

Logical and objective thinking is essential to being a good poker player.

Thus I am shocked that so many otherwise sensible posters in this thread would suggest with a straight face that these tools don't help, or that mediocre players are not able to benefit from the information, or that very strong players would not be able to win even more with the tools than without them.

Whatever you feel about the legality of these tools I think we should all be able to agree on two things:

1. They really, really help a lot. That's why everyone is so passionate about this subject.

2. It's practically criminal of Party that they are handling this issue through vague T&C, confusing and ambiguous e-mails, doubletalk, apparent different rules at different skins, etc.

A level playing field is when everyone knows what the rules are.

Party, please make up your mind and tell us in unambigous terms. Then consistently give the same answer when anyone asks.

Nice post! Agree that Party owes its customers a clear, unambiguous response to this issue. Also agree that these tools help...quite a bit at the low limits...

I tried PE, didnt like it any more thatn PT/with aHud. I dont think that stat tracking gives an unfair advantage. I feel I can play one or two tables making regular notes and have a good idea of what each player does. However, right now I 8 table and know it would be impossible to do so w/o this type of software.

To me, it is like some baseball players using wood bats while a few are able to use metal bats. Sure, they all still have to hit the same ball - but they have an unfair advantage.

[/ QUOTE ]
bad analogy. the technology is available to all but the stubborn and the oblivious. if you want to use a wooden bat then that is your perogative. you are perfectly able to get off your obstinate ass and buy a metal bat. if you prefer to use a wooden bat for tradition's sake, too bad. don't fault others for not giving a damn about tradition.

I got the same email. I requested clarification. They said that 'holdem inspector' (a glorified odds calculator) was the culprit and that it is now not allowed.
