I'm waiting until about 2pm today. If I haven't gotten a call by then, I will ring them up.

Congratulations. You passed with flying colors; be proud that you are among a select group of genuinely honest people left in the world.

Re: I found $640: now what?
I just got off the phone with the bank manager. He said that no one has claimed the money yet, but he wants to give it a full week. I will go back in person on Saturday.

You should be fine if the bank manager is involved... unless El D cracks the puzzle first.....

Re: I found $640: now what?
You made a classy move. However, now you have to sweat unscrupulous bank employees.

Re: I found $640: now what?
Ethics aside, what does everyone think about telling my girlfriend to go and claim it?
Really, shouldn't they have a security tape of who dropped it? It seems like they could narrow down possible suspects to just a couple people by cross-checking the time of the drop and transaction records. Or, at the very least, compare a description of the person from the video to who shows up to claim the money. |

Re: I found $640: now what?
I just talked to a friend who worked at a bank for a couple years. She said that the bank has a sort of miscellaneous fund used for various expenses. Found money goes in this, as does extra money they can't account for at the end of the day. She said that there is a good chance the bank will keep the money I turned in and put it in this fund, saying that I don't really have a right to it.
Has anyone worked at a bank before? Does this sort of thing happen? If so, can I work out some ways to pressure them into handing the money over, wage some sort of PR campaign? |
Re: I found $640: now what?
This is why if you were going to turn it in you should have done so to the police. they have a policy on found money. It's something like if it's not claimed in 30 days the person who found it gets it.
