Re: \"Official\" Live at the Bike thread (11/14) (8/16 limit)

I'll post this question tonight and tomorrow for no limit

How does one put someone on or smell a set?? I hate it when someone turns a set over even moreso than a flush or straight only cause I'm expecting to sometimes see a flush or straight yet might have to pay them off. I just hate bieng surprised at sets. they are so damn hidden in poker

Also - how do I get better at flopping them?? just kidding hehe

Bad players that check-raise you on the turn on a board that isn't threatening almost always means a set. Moreso when they didn't raise preflop. Like, lets say there's 4 limpers and the blinds in an unraised pot. You have, like KQo in MP and you limped. Flop is K-6-2r. You lead out and a couple of people call. Turn is a 9. Now you get check-raised by a L-P donk. He almost always has a set of sixes or deuces. Or he will have K9. Bad players (ie: loose-passives) don't raise unless they have at least two pair. They may bet out with top pair, but if raised, they will c/c down and hope. If you get a lot of resistance from a bad player, he/she will almost always have a set.

On that last hand when it was raised with AK, the AK person had the A of spades, but they said CJ mucked Ax sooted. And spades came out and she woulda got there. Was this just a mistake and he really had A of clubs and CJ had the A of spades?

No prob, I use my time during hands that I'm not in (in live play) observing the other players and trying to put them on hands. I'm usually right about 80-90% of the time. It's fun to whisper to the player next to you on the turn what the guy betting/raising has, and then see his reaction when the guy turns over the hand. "Oh wow, how did you know!??!!?"
