Default Rounders Club--New Jersey

Might stop there on the way to the Taj. Anyone ever play there?

I live in Northen Jersey as well (although you didn't say so, it sounds like you do) and I found Rounders on some sight and wrote to the email address provided. Although I knew the answer to each of these questions I asked them anyway.

Hi,

Currently I live in Northern NJ and am looking for a regular club to play Poker (without having to drive all the way down to Exit 39). While searching around for clubs I found yours on the web. Currently I am a low limit hold'em player. As a low limit hold'em player is your club "right" for me. Meaning do you always have either a $3/$6 or $5/$10 game going because as of now that is all I am interested in, plus not driving the extra 100 miles to Atlantic City is something I would not mind.

Just a few questions:

Are there any membership fees are associated with this club?

Do you rake pots, or charge by the half-hour/hour?

If you rake what is your rake?

Who does the dealing?

Do you have tournaments?

What are your hours?

Hi Bill: Our base game is 6/12 holdem. It is played every night starting at 7 pm. Our membership fee is $55 paid after you membership application is approved, usually the first night you show up. This is a one time fee. We charge $5 per 1/2 hour for all games except the 20/40 which is $6 per 1/2 hour. All games are dealer dealt. We have tournaments every sunday at 3:30

pm. these are always no limit holdem with rebuys. The first 3 sundays are a $70 buyin with $50 rebuys if you so choose. The last sunday of each month is a $125 entry with $100 rebuys. Our hours are 7pm to 7am except sunday when we open at 2:30 pm. Hope this helps. See you soon.

Now that we have got what I said, what he said, I still have a few questions.

Number one, are places like this legal in NJ outside of Atlantic City? If not, no way in hell I would go there, if so, why the heck are they not all over the palce?

I think, but am not sure, that Rounders Club is legal because the owner found some kind of loophole in the gambling law (I think by making it a "private club" where you have to pay to be a member...at Turning Stone Casino in NY, they got around the no poker law by making people pay a daily membership of $2 to join the "poker room club"). I've personally never been there though, so take this for what you want....but if they are illegal, they are pretty high profile and well known. I think they woulda been shut down by now. If you're curious, I would ask the owner.
