Default Daniel N on toronto radio yesterday

- couple of interesting things he said during the call in period:

- there are almost never any fish or EZ money in the big game. almost always big money poker pros taking on each other. Hence there are many big name household name pros out there who are actually money losers.

- There is no good reason to ever play in an illegal underground cardroom anymore.

- says he has most respect for jennifer harman of any poker player

I can either drive for 1.5 hours each way to a casino or drive 5 minutes to a club. hmmmm..... he's right, no reason at all.

If the powers that be (read: idiot politicians) allowed a casino or at least a card room in Toronto (my home town) as they do in Vancouver (my former home town) for example, then his statement could have been correct. Otherwise, let me at the card room or the internet.

I heard Daniel use to play in a cardroom in Toronto. Does anyone know where it was? I read the same in the Mike Petriv Odd's book. Where are these dens of iniquity?

The closest legal venues are the Brantford Charity Casino, the one by lake Scugog whose name escapes me, and Casino Rama. Is there anything closer to Toronto legal or illegal?

Daniel used to play at a pool hall in Scarborough called VIP's. I don't play there but I do know that they spread 1/2 NL there. I know of several underground rooms in the Toronto area... some that I play at and some that I don't. But it is definately more convenient to play underground or online then to drive an hour+ to get to Brantford, Port Perry or Niagra Falls. I wonder why Daniel would say that about underground rooms though.

Pretty sure DN was playing at a couple of underground places in the northwest end. I know of one he played at. msg me if you want more details.

I wonder why Daniel would say that about underground rooms though.

He felt it wasn't worth the risk and that the need for these clubs no longer existed. As poker has become more mainstream, there are now more legal games available. He also commented on the fact that the rake in these clubs is often greater than what you will pay in a casino.

Risk wasn't only in the context of being arrested if police break up the game, but that there is no security for the players. You're an easy mark walking out of one of these places at 4:00 AM.
