DVD to MPEG and .MOV

I have some footage on DVD that I would like to be able to edit so I need it in MPEG format. I would also like to make some animated .gif's out of some of it and ImageReady needs it to be in .mov format. Does anyone know of a cheap application that will allow me to do both of these things? Thank you.
