I have a Sony Vaio I got a year and a half ago and I run FireFox, but my computer is awfully slow lately and makes loud noises when it runs, which is just fans blowing loudly I think. Any way to improve my performance? I just deleted Kazaa and that didn't really help, I have LimeWire but don't use it too often. If I delete it I want to keep all the files, so anyone who suggests getting rid of it can you help me figure out how to keep those files too. TY in advance.

A good start would be to download and run Ad Aware and Spybot S&D. Good chance your system is clogged up with a bunch of crapware; these programs will get rid of some of it, anyway.

Just because you've removed Kazaa doesn't mean it is completely gone. Many programs leave bits and pieces behind. At the least, this can lead to a bloated registry.
