University Internet Connection t3 yet poker is slow??

For some reason at school I am able to download files at over a mb/s but on some poker software such as PokerStars and CDPoker I am unable to get desired speed. I am constantly being timed out of hands on both. It works fine with some programs like UltimateBet but those two are f'ed!
What's going on and how do I fix it? Thanks.

fwiw full tilt should work

This has come up before... probably certain TCP ports are throttled (speed limited) to reduce network traffic on poker/P2P/etc sites.
