Default Theoretical never ending tournament??

Is it theoretically possible for a tournament to go on forever?
When it gets to the point where the blinds are as big as all chips in play, is it only a matter of time??

The players can chop the pot when they're blinded all-in so the tournament always has a non-zero chance of continuing through the current hand. However, the chance of this occuring repeatedly might as well be zero.

Given colusuion (not excluded by your post) the tournament could go on as long as the entrants lived...but not forever unless life after death raises its head!

I agree, although they don't have to chop the pot to have the game continue. As long as the one who was ahead before the hand loses, both players will have money afterwards. So when the antes plus blinds exceed the total amount of cash in the game, there is slightly less than a 50% chance that the tournament can continue another hand. It could last forever, but only in the sense that a fair coin can flip heads forever.

Once the small blind is big enough to force both players all-in (ie: neither player has more than the sb), then the only way it can continue is if the pot is split. Then, the pot would have to continue to be split for the tourney to continue.
