Default Build me a perfect computer

Let's say I have a U$4000 max. budget for a computer with NO monitor.

I need to know what are the best components I can get for gaming and also multitasking a LOT.

I need at least 500GB of disk space and also a very FAST disk to read databases etc.

I bought a ZALMAN TNN case, and I want quiet components as well. So I was thinking of giving preference to an Intel CPU (wich I think has more stability).

Most important, show me a good motherboard
I need to know wich is the fastest DDR memory availible.
Video cards? Wich is the current best (or second best).
Is PCI Express good?
A fast Hard drive
Do I use RAID? do I prefer ATA or SATA? how about SCSI drives?

THanks for all your help!

Any Maxtor HD will do. The faster the rpm's the better. I dont see any huge advantage you will get in running RAID.
Get a machine with 1 gig of ram. Also I dont think the brand name will make that much difference.

Make yourself a bundle on mwave.com. They have good prices, so just create a motherboard combo (select your processor, board, and RAM). It will come all setup together on the motherboard when it arrives and you can just throw it into a case. Its a site I like to use.

Get a 6800 or 7800 Nvidia card. Also you want to get a few exhaust fans to keep your system cool. Some people also like the ATI cards.

I think these guys make fantastic computer cases. The best part is, they are very quiet boxes.

Link. This is what Im getting

It got a hot review in PC Gamer, said its the most powerful system they've seen in a long time. I configured it to what I wanted (better memory, 300gb hard drive, audio card, Mx518 gaming mouse) and it came out to 3300.

Computer is hot though, Fx-57 and two Nvidia 7800 gtxs and comes w/ 3 HDs (2 raid and one 250 gb HD).

Also just wanted to say, I priced this computer out and its cheaper to buy it then it is to build from parts. Now if u were to get the same rig from Falcon or Alienware, it would make sense to build it, since the price is huge. This same rig from Falcon goes for 6600.

Some hints:
-There are no perfect computers
-What is best is very personal, is the best the fastest or is the best the most reliable?
-Both IDE and SATA can be raided, since SATA is the new standard go with that
-Buying the very latest and most "hot" is bad value for money, buy parts that are still "fresh" but not the latest, it will still be fast enough and much cheaper
-If you are gonna buy an Intel CPU I recomend an Intel mobo, as stable as they come
-Any modern computer can do what you want to do

just some random thoughts
