Default etrade as an online broker?

currently I have my IRA accounts with Wells Fargo (they suck). I'm thinking of switching to eTrade. I like the user interface and the rates seem reasonable. Any bad experiences with eTrade or other recommendations?

I have bank account, brokerage account and home mortgage through ET. Have never had any problems.
The site has been very reliable. I can only remember once in four years having a problem with the site being down.

Disclosure: I also own 2,000 shares of ET.

No complaints after five years or so, but to be honest I haven't sold anything in those five years either, so I'm not exactly a frequent user.

I use Etrade and I like it. They do a good job with forms at tax time.

I had the following experience with ETrade:

1) excellent online service when self-servicing my account
2) HORRIBLE and DEPLORABLE phone-based customer service when I actually needed to speak with someone.

FWIW.

as expected if you go with any of the big firms you gonna wait forever on the phone
also their rates are not that good.

I currently use abwatley, with 5.50 a trade but best thing is they always pickup the phone at the first ring(and i call them at least once a day)

Why would you need to call an online broker once a day?

sometimes i may get a bad fill from a marketmaker trying to screw me and they'll bust the trade, also i do some riskfree risky positions(lol) where i have to hold their hand through the process to make sure i get my free shares.
