Default Videocard Question.

Getting dual monitor card, I'm pretty ignorant about slots and all that however.

I spoke with a Dell guy and he told me I had to buy a card that was AGP 4x, and I'd remove the current video card from its slot and throw the new one in.

So if I'm looking at this card that is AGP 4x/8x, it'll fit, right? That 8x is throwin me off.

FWIW:
(I have a Dell Dimension 4500. According to Dell, my expansion Bus contains:
1 AGP connector (size 172 pins, 32 bit data width, and 4x,2x bus protocol modes at 1.5v).

4 PCI connectors with 120 pin size connecting at 32 bits.)

Yes, the 8x card will work. All AGP cards (regardless of version) have the same physical form factor. The data rate is much higher with 8x, about twice as much as 4x.

Hope this helps.

I have the same problem but I have a Dell laptop. I have a Dell Lattitude and a Dell Lattitude C/Dock II docking station, with two PCI slots. I want perhaps get a cheap dual monitor graphics card that supports 1600x1200 on two monitors and put it in the docking station. Anyone have suggestions?

Something cheap, sub $100 if possible would be ideal.
