Default Home network question

I have a Dell XPS desktop and a Vaio laptop and I'm trying to connect them in a home network . I have a wireless broadband router and i have a internet connection Great!! but i want to share files. I went throught the network wizard and i can share the files on the lap top,but not on the desktop, and those are the one's i need.. Please help me.. Thanks in advance... Ray b

The computers have to be in the same Windows Workgroup and you have to "share" the folders you want to be available. To set up a share right click on the folder, select properties and then "sharing" That should work

if after sharing it they still fail to see each other run IPCONFIG from the cmd prompt and try hitting the box that way...

from RUN type the following then hit enter:
\\xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx\(sharename)
