I don't know what others may think, but I do not think this is a bad move at all. The big stack is likely limping in with 2 nearly random cards, probably one face card or two middle cards (any reads?, has he been limping alot?, i see this often from the big stacks with 4-6 left). The flop is not too likely to have hit him, there is 500 in the pot and you have less than 800 left so picking it up is great for you and you probably have 6 outs if you are called.
