Default New American Century

From a paper produced by Project for the New American Century, a right-wing think tank close to the Bush administration (Paul Wolfowitz is listed as a project participant in the report) that lobbies for increased military spending to maintain US global dominance:

"Furthermore, the process of [military] transformation is likely to be a long one, absent some catastrophic and catalyzing event - like a new pearl Harbour." (p. 51)

The report was written in 2000. Given what has happened since, does anyone find this a little spooky?

The media hass dug up the report before (I'd seen a reference to that phrase and wanted to track it down), and perhaps it's already been mentioned here, but if not, I was wondering what people thought about it.

The report contains some of the greatest thinking of the 1940s.
