Default Bubble situation

Was wondering if anybody folded here, I had been bullying the table (standard bubble play) and the button had made several comments about it. I would assume a range of roughly 22+, a5+, j9+, q8+, k7+.

Now my question really isn't what is mathematically correct, I know that calling here is +EV, but I know several people advocate preserving the bubble so that you can wield your big stack and win first before you get HU (more or less). Also if I call and lose I will lose my big stack status and the blinds are raising again.

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t400 (4 handed) converter

UTG (t2350)
Button (t3195)
SB (t1885)
Hero (t6070)

Preflop: Hero is BB with 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].

I say this is a very easy call.

Preserving the bubble refers to keep the SHORT stack along to bleed the medium stacks, something I think which is overdone.

I think the range you are putting the button on is way too loose.

Yeah I agree, but we are still probably about 55-57% to win against his range of hands (pair/A8+/KT+ or some such). There is no way I'm folding here considering that I already have 400 out there + a 200 dead SB.

i think your range might be a little loose too, but in that position i call.... you'd have lil over 3k if you lose your 54% and prob more chance of being 70fav... so around 65%fav, and it's not at all your tourn life, so I'd call,

note on the button's bet, what type of hands would someone do this with, a-x, low pp i think, but then some use this logic and push with real strong hands to show weakness???
basically what do u guys make of the push here with 3k, obs. sign of weakness, but if button knows that you know that then (yeah, reverse reverse sh..)

You should have seen what he had

I was getting the feeling he wanted to "get back at me" hence the looseness.

hehe okay but just because he had 83o or whatever doesnt mean you should expect him to be completely insane in a spot where it makes no sense.

This is a pretty easy call as the big stack. The whole keeping the button alive thing is usually over talked about on here as the ideal spots for it don't come up nearly as often as people seem to think. Even when they do, if you are suddenly given the chance to eliminate the 2nd biggest stack, you should usually take it.

Anyway with 99, you are in great shape agasint his range which is signifcantly smaller than the range you give I'm sure, but still way big enough to make this an easy call.

Should be standard with most any hand he would be raising here.
