If you right click on the firewall icon in your tray, you can turn the firewall on or off yourself, and being paranoid sercurity-wise, I do it all the time when I am away from my computer. I also remember a time a few months ago when it got turned off without my doing it, and on opening the program it said I didn't have administrator privileges to turn it back on. After checking my system for spyware/viruses, I think that just rebooting a couple of times did the trick. If you try these things and it still doesn't work, you could try a system retore, although you might lose other settings doing so.

You need to configure your firewall to allow you to connect to the internet. If you're using a Norton product, read through the manual or call Symantec support if you can't figure it out yourself.
