Do interest rates affect poker?

I am wondering if the current popularity of poker was in part, or even wholely, fueled by artificially low interest rates. In other words people had extra spending money to spend foolishly due to low interest rates. With interest rates rising I am thinking that there will be fewer bad players with less money to bring to the tables to begin with.
